Import Export Code (IEC)
The Import Export Code (IEC) is a 10-digit code issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), mandatory for any person or entity engaged in importing or exporting goods and services from India. Without an IEC, customs authorities will not allow clearance of shipments, and banks will not process foreign remittances for trade.

Documents Required
- PAN Card of the applicant (individual/entity)
- Aadhaar Card
- Cancelled cheque or bank certificate
- Address proof of the applicant

Process
Step 1: Apply online on the DGFT portal (dgft.gov.in)
Step 2: Fill Form ANF-2A with entity and bank details
Step 3: Upload required documents and pay the government fee
Step 4: DGFT verifies and issues the IEC digitally
Step 5: IEC is emailed and can be downloaded from DGFT portal
