Legal Entity Identifier Code (LEI)
The Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) is a 20-character alphanumeric code that uniquely identifies entities participating in financial transactions globally. In India, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has mandated LEI for all borrowers with aggregate fund-based and non-fund-based exposure of ₹25 crore and above, as well as for entities undertaking OTC derivative and large-value NEFT/RTGS transactions.

Process
Step 1: Apply on the LEIL portal (ccilindia-lei.co.in)
Step 2: Submit entity details and upload documents
Step 3: Pay the application fee
Step 4: LEIL verifies and issues the LEI code
Step 5: Renew annually before expiry date
