DIR-3 KYC (Director KYC)

DIR-3 KYC (Director KYC)

DIR-3 KYC is an annual filing required for every individual holding a Director Identification Number (DIN). The purpose is to verify and update the director’s personal details including address, contact information, and identity. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has amended the Companies (Appointment and Qualification of Directors) Rules, 2014, shifting Director KYC (DIR-3 KYC) from an annual requirement to a triennial (once every three years) filing, effective March 31, 2026. This reduces compliance, requiring directors to file, verify, and update personal details (address, mobile, email) once every three years, with the next filing due by June 30, 2028.

Failure to file results in DIN deactivation and a penalty of ₹5,000.

Important Points:

  • Mandatory for all individuals with an allotted DIN
  • First-time filing via DIR-3 KYC web form (with OTP verification)
  • Non-filing leads to DIN deactivation and ₹5,000 penalty for reactivation
